What now?

I did not vote for Trump.  However, as has been pointed out a million times on social media, he is my President.  I cannot put my head in the sand and pretend otherwise.

Some of you reading this did vote for Trump, and you are thrilled that he is your President.  However, you also cannot put your head in the sand.

Here is a list of things that (in my opinion) we all need to do now that Trump is President (by the way, this list applies no matter who is President).

Pray for the President.  And Congressmen.  And Governors.  And your own City Councilmen.  Throw in the local School Board while you are at it.  And if you are making a list, add me.  I can always use the prayer. Pay attention.Know what laws are being passed and what is happening in Washington DC.  Stick to your beliefs.  If you were bothered by how many Executive Orders President Obama signed, keep up with how many President Trump signs.  If you were appalled by Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server, make sure…

2017 Word: Present

I'm not one for making resolutions, because once you fail at them it's easy to quit and just give up altogether.  However, I do like the idea of choosing a word for the year.  I have to admit, I've done this before as well and haven't exactly followed through.  Last year, I chose the word Give, and although I didn't blog about it, I did keep that word in focus throughout the year.  In 2014, I chose the word Cultivate, and while I had good intentions, I had a baby mid-year and then I was just in survival mode - no time to cultivate anything!  In 2011, the year I became a mother, I chose the word Nurture.

So this year, I have decided to spend the year prioritizing my passions, and the best way I can think of to do that is to be PRESENT.  I have to admit that I multi-task far more than I should.  Also, I spend far too much of my attention on my phone.  While social media allows me to connect with people, my focus should be on the people who are actually in front of m…

What I Wore Wednesday - I'm back

So once upon a time I participated in the blog link-up and and online phenomenon known as "What I Wore Wednesday" - it was a fun way to look at what I wore and strive to look my best.

Then I had kids . . . .

And I was lucky if I wore my hair out of a ponytail or even matched.  I still worked full time, but the focus was most certainly not on me or what I was wearing.  Now my babies are a bit older, and I have a bit more time to do things like shower, fix my hair, and iron some clothes.

Also, even though I'm nearing 40, I'm finding that I'm going through a style renaissance, and that I'm starting to really find my style - -and not feel like I have to wear a style just because it's the current fad.  Seriously, peer pressure in my 30s?  Over it.

Due to being on Christmas break most of last week, I don't have many pics.  Because there were several days (in a row) that I didn't get out of pajamas.  No shame.

Thursday, 12/29 Christmas Break and I wan…

What are your priorities for 2017?  Did you make resolutions?

I do not make resolutions.  For a lot of reasons, but mainly because I know that I won't keep resolutions.

However, I do have priorities.  Some are intentional, most are not intentional.  This year I want to make sure that my priorities are intentional.  And that they match up with my passions.

So what are these passions?

My first passion is my faith.  One that I'm ashamed that I haven't made a priority.  My second is family - first my marriage, and then my kids.  I also have to admit that I don't have that in the best order either.  Another is giving, another reading/learning (I am a library lady after all!), and travel/adventure.  This year I want to make sure that my priorities match my life passions instead of floating along letting my priorities be unintentional.

What is a priority?  According to the dictionary, it is a thing that is regarded as more …
